INFESTANTE PUTS DOWN "ROOTS" IN THE WORLD OF WINE

The 2024 Radici (Italian for "roots") Primitivo enters the JamesSuckling.com rankings with a score that places it among the best Apulian wines.

The score confirms this 94/100 awarded by Stuart Pigott, critic of the group JamesSuckling.com, one of the most authoritative reference platforms in the international wine scene.

Roots 2024 It is a wine born in the noble terroir of the lower Murgia and, without raising its voice, manages to reach far.

James Suckling, critic with over forty years of experience and already a historic signature of Wine Spectator, Today, he leads a team that annually tastes tens of thousands of wines from around the world, both in the cellar and blind. His approach prizes balance, identity, tension, and terroir-specific consistency, rather than opulence for its own sake.

An award of this level therefore speaks not only to the quality of the wine, but also to the solidity of the vision that generated it.

And Radici's vision starts from the soil.

The grapes come from old vines well rooted in the limestone matrix of the lower Murgia, where the bedrock is covered with red clay with a good amount of sand. This rare combination enhances the wine's finesse and allows for excellent analytical and flavor balance, harvest after harvest (also thanks to regenerative farming techniques).

Radici 2024 comes from grapes (grown organically) harvested by hand in small crates. August 28th. During vinification, the destemmed grapes were combined with a percentage of whole bunches to enhance the wine's minerality, aromatic freshness and complexity. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, extraction with soft pigeages and then refinement in amphora. The pH of 3.5 and the 14% vol. find a natural balance, giving life to a long and clean sip.

The result is a vibrant and Mediterranean aromatic profile, with hints of aromatic herbs, lychee flower, red berries and hints of exotic fruit. On the palate, the wine is taut, precise, and juicy, with defined tannins that faithfully reflect its terroir. A medium-bodied wine, surprisingly light on the palate, yet retains depth and persistence.

Roots 2024 is the first vintage of this label.

The 94/100 of Radici 2024, it is not the first evaluation that Infestante receives on the siteJamesSuckling.com, in fact, in April 2024 also the rosé Primofiore 2023 (the company's first label and first wine overall) had been rated with a score of 92/100 ranking among the best Apulian rosés. These scores, however, do not represent a point of arrival, but rather a confirmation of the work done so far and a motivation to work even harder.

The road is still long but the direction taken is clear.

If the roots are good, it means that the tree will grow strong and lush!
